2019 SVYFA Head Football Coaches

 

Freshman

Rich Ortiz

Rich has coached for 8 years in the Smithson Valley area, last year Rich head coached the Smithson Valley 6th grade team to a successful season. 

“It’s not all about wins/losses, success is measured by the kids having fun, staying safe, and learning the game.  We are here to help the youth in our community grow and become fine young adults.  If they sign up to play next season, I’ve done my job.” -Coach Rich

 

JV Blue

Chris Mansfield

This will be the 4th season that Chris has coached in the Smithson Valley Area. Last year Chris head coached the Smithson Valley Freshman team to a HCYFL championship.

JV White

Dace Dunn

This will be Dace’s 2nd year coaching in the Smithson Valley area.  Last year he was an assistant coach on the Smithson Valley Freshman team. He has also head coached Upward Basketball for 1st and 2nd grade.

“The more you prepare, the more confident you are.”

 

5th Grade

Nick Stoner

This will be Nick’s 3rd year coaching in the Smithson Valley area.  Last year he was Head Coach of the Smithson Valley JV 3rd and 4th grade team and lead them to a successful season.

“I coach because of the kids and the passion I have for the game.  I’m looking to build a team of character, and strong work ethic.  The goal is to have a team that has a desire to excel and not have a fear of failure…..we don’t fail, we learn.”

 

6th Grade Blue

J.B. LaCombe

J.B. has been coaching in the Smithson Valley area for 3 years, and coaching football for 6 years. Last year he coached the Spring Branch Rangers 5th and 6th grade team to a successful season.

 6th Grade White

Jason Hornsby

Jason has coached football in the Smithson Valley area for 6 years.  Last year he was part of the Spring Branch 4th and 5th grade coaching staff.

“I do it for the kids and their future. I truly believe football starts to teach important life lessons to work hard to get the outcome you are looking for. It is truly a sport where you get out what you put in. It is great for confidence and self-discipline. Work hard, play hard and regardless of the outcome you will learn something about yourself. “
